IEM is currently seeking a Quality Systems Technician for our Surrey, B.C. locations and will report into the Quality Systems Leader. The Quality Systems Technician plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of digital quality systems, smart tools, and quality infrastructure. Reporting to the Lead Quality Systems Engineer, this role focuses on setting up systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and enabling the smooth integration of quality processes within manufacturing operations.
Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Jacksonville office and does not offer remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the setup, configuration, and validation of quality systems, including smart tools, AI cameras, and digital inspection devices.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues related to EQMS platforms, smart inspection systems, and quality data capture tools.
  • Work with engineering, IT, and quality teams to integrate new tools and systems into production processes.
  • Help build and maintain process flows, control plans, and digital documentation related to quality system infrastructure.
  • Support the digitization, automation, and standardization of quality and traceability records, including inspection data, testing logs, serialization records, and process verification checkpoints.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and user guides related to quality systems.
  • Participate in pilot runs and process trials to validate functionality and integration of smart quality tools.
  • Monitor system performance and escalate recurring issues or improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of setups, system changes, and configuration parameters.
  • Provide technical support to shop floor users to ensure quality systems are functioning correctly.
  • Assist in quality-related training sessions for new tools or systems implementation.
  • Coordinate with vendors or suppliers when technical support or software updates are needed for system hardware or software.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the implementation and sustainability of quality system initiatives.
  • Ability to develop & update programs and scripts for data validation, data sorting, automation, and creation of dashboards and visual reporting tools.

Qualifications:
  • Diploma or technical certification in Quality, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering support role, preferably with exposure to quality or production systems.
  • Experience with programming, scripting, or data visualization tools such as Python, SQL, VBA, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with EQMS platforms, process automation, or smart inspection technologies is an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in both hardware and software environments.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, flowcharts, and system diagrams.
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment with engineering, IT, and operations teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with digital tools used in quality systems.
  • Good communication skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or six sigma principles is a plus.
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization

Working Conditions:
  • Split between office and shop floor environments.
  • May require light hands-on work for system setup, testing, and troubleshooting.

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
