CREATING ESSENTIAL CHEMISTRY THE WORLD NEEDS
At Chemours, our people are redefining how the world thinks of chemistry by approaching everything we do with a commitment to delivering Trusted Chemistry that creates better lives and helps communities thrive. That begins with how we use our science, data, and unmatched technical expertise to develop market-leading products with the highest levels of performance, sustainability, and safety in the industry.
Powered by chemistry, our products are used in applications that make the products we rely on, processes, and new technologies possible. In key sectors such as clean energy, advanced electronics, high-performance computing and AI, climate friendly cooling, and high-quality paints and coatings for homes and industrial infrastructure---sustainable solutions and more modern living depend on Chemours chemistry.
Chemours is seeking an APM Business Quality Lead to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials (APM) team. This position will be available at the Wilmington Headquarters or one of our APM product manufacturing locations (Washington Works, Chambers Works, or Fayetteville Works) and report directly to the APM Operations Vice President.
This role will lead business-level product quality initiatives across APM by partnering with site quality teams, operations, supply chain, global product managers, and quality systems leadership. The position will focus on improving first-pass quality, reducing product variability and customer complaints, identifying quality capability gaps, and translating business and customer needs into quality improvement priorities across the APM business.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead business-level quality programs and projects across APM manufacturing sites and product lines to improve first-pass quality, reduce product variability, address chronic quality issues, and reduce customer complaints.

  • Review product-quality trends and data across APM product lines to identify recurring issues, business risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Partner with site Quality Managers to investigate significant product-quality issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.

  • Lead product-line capability reviews and support site-to-site consistency across quality processes, product performance, and customer requirements.

  • Partner with growth teams, new product development teams, and global product managers to identify future quality capabilities needed to support new products and customer opportunities.

  • Translate business objectives and customer requirements into quality goals, priorities, and improvement plans for APM manufacturing sites.

  • Build quality capability across the business through coaching, knowledge sharing, structured problem solving, and collaboration with site quality teams.

  • Partner with Chemours Quality Management Systems leadership to support quality-system alignment, training, assessments, certifications, and risk identification.

  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts using data and quality methodologies to identify root causes and implement sustainable improvements.

  • Travel approximately 25%, primarily during the workweek, to support APM manufacturing locations, with occasional international travel based on business needs.

The following is required for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, engineering, polymer science, materials science, or a related scientific discipline.

  • 10+ years of progressive quality and/or product-quality experience in a complex manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience with product quality, customer complaints, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, quality trends, and product/process capability.

  • Experience with specialty materials, including familiarity with one or more areas such as specialty polymers, fluoropolymers, fluoroelastomers, coatings, membranes, specialty lubricants, or comparable advanced materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead quality teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives, influence experienced stakeholders without direct authority, and work with Quality Management Systems and enterprise/ERP systems supporting quality processes.

The following is preferred for this role:
  • Direct experience with fluoropolymers, FKM/fluoroelastomers, specialty coatings, ion-exchange membranes, specialty lubricants, or other closely related advanced materials.

  • Degree concentration in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer chemistry/science, or materials science.

  • Previous experience in a Quality Manager, Senior Quality Manager, Business Quality, Global Quality, or Quality Director-level role.

  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sites, complex product portfolios, multiple grades/SKUs, specialty compounding, and varied customer requirements.

  • Experience applying advanced quality and problem-solving methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, APQP, MSA, A3, and/or 8D; Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus.
