How much do quality metric jobs pay per year?
What is the difference between Quality Metric vs Quality Analyst?
| Aspect | Quality Metric | Quality Analyst |
|---|---|---|
| Role Focus | Measures and analyzes quality indicators and performance metrics | Evaluates and improves quality processes and standards |
| Required Credentials | Often no specific certifications; knowledge of data analysis tools | Typically requires certifications like Six Sigma, QA certifications |
| Work Environment | Data analysis, reporting, and monitoring environments | Inspection, testing, process improvement settings |
| Industry Usage | Used across manufacturing, software, healthcare for performance tracking | Commonly employed in manufacturing, software development, healthcare for quality assurance |
While a Quality Metric focuses on measuring and analyzing quality data, a Quality Analyst actively evaluates and improves quality processes. Both roles are essential for maintaining high standards but differ in their primary responsibilities and skill requirements.

Job description
This Project Consultant, Outcomes position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical data, quality measurement, and project coordination. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented healthcare professional who understands clinical workflows and electronic health record data and enjoys working across teams to turn complex information into meaningful quality and outcomes measures.
In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and refinement of clinical quality metrics aligned with institutional goals and reporting requirements. You will help translate clinical workflows and EHR data into measurable outcomes and reporting specifications, contribute to Patient Reported Outcomes and cancer-specific metrics, and serve as a technical resource for data abstraction, metric development, and validation activities.
You will also support quality improvement projects from planning through implementation, helping define measures, track timelines, document progress, and coordinate workflow changes with clinical and operational stakeholders. You will monitor baseline and post-intervention data, contribute to sustainability tracking, and prepare clear updates, summaries, and reports to keep stakeholders informed of project progress and outcomes.
A key component of the position is quality data reporting and operational coordination. You will coordinate quarterly reporting for core quality metrics such as length of stay, mortality, and 30-day and 7-day readmissions, ensuring data is accurately compiled, validated, and submitted. You will also support Cancer Network reporting needs by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external resources, maintaining reporting documentation and datasets, and helping ensure continuity and consistency across reporting cycles.
This position will also contribute to the development and organization of data management processes across the Cancer Network. You will help define and document roles and responsibilities, identify gaps in ownership, and support interim solutions that keep critical reporting and metric maintenance activities moving forward. Strong organization, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively across clinical, operational, and data teams will be essential.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, or a related field and at least five years of clinical data experience, including three years of project or program coordination in a healthcare setting. Experience working with clinical workflows and electronic health record data is required, while a master's degree and clinical experience or RN licensure are preferred. Candidates who enjoy combining healthcare knowledge, data, and structured project coordination to improve clinical quality and outcomes will find this opportunity especially rewarding.
MD Anderson offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including paid medical benefits, generous paid time off, retirement plans, tuition assistance, professional development opportunities, and additional benefits, along with the opportunity to build a rewarding career at one of the world's leading cancer centers while contributing to meaningful improvements in clinical quality, outcomes, and value.
