QUALITY MANAGER

Purpose and Scope:

This position will be responsible for supervising and maintaining technical leadership of the assigned quality staff, which includes overseeing QE and QAS direct reports in support of value streams. Assists general manager as directed to ensure quality improvement initiatives are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes safety and environmental commitment beyond compliance with regulations
  • Report on quality performance in all areas, as directed by General Manager
  • Leads customer audits
  • Manage and maintain quality KPI targets set by the General Manager
  • Establish and maintain QAS inspection standardization
  • Oversees rework and scrap follow-up, supports COPQ action execution, and leads continuous improvement projects to meet COPQ reduction goals.
  • Participates in internal and external quality audit (ISO 9001:2015, AS9100:2016)
  • Takes decision based on the interpretation of certifications, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Supports Quality development of the New Product Introduction
  • Interprets and flows down customer quality requirements, specifications, and records.
  • Mentor and growth of quality identifying training needs for quality personnel.
  • Drive quality engineering team standardization which incorporates quality improvement plans methodologies as part of a continuous improvement process.
  • Perform duties as the site Quality Assurance Manager in his absence
  • Ensure planned/unplanned value stream support coverage for QE and QAS teams.
  • Establish and ensure cross-training plans are continually met for QAS and QE’s
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, as directed by General Manager
  • Review customer and quality non-conformances and coordinate on-time corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain the Material Review Area to ensure that all products are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues in a Quality Clinic or similar setting.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 5-7 years quality engineering experience
  • B.S. in technical field
  • Previous experience leading a group of 5 or more
  • Customer facing experience
  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, a problem solver and adaptable.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Six sigma tools (5Why, Ishikawa, 8d etc.)
  • Attention to detail / Detail oriented
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position

This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident [“green card” holders] or have refugee or asylee status. Non-US Citizens may be restricted from certain programs. 

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • ASQ CQE certification,
  • Advanced degree in Business or Engineering
  • Previous experience leading a group of 10 or more a plus.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process controls.
  • GD&T experience
  • Knowledge on standard ISO 9001:2015 + AS9100:2016
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification
