Job Overview:

The IMM Technical Manager position is a very visible, high-level leadership role, reporting to the Senior Manager, Injection Molding Operations. You will serve as the injection molding "Specialist" and will collaborate, interact and work well with all senior Executives and DMS leaders; hourly and plant maintenance personnel in a fast-paced, broadcast delivery (JIT) environment and therefore, so equipment and tooling uptime experience is essential. The individual will possess strong collaborative skills, maintaining strong relationships with other departments. Working knowledge of broadcast, sequencing, MES, Visual Studio (C#) and SQL database software would be helpful.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and technical support of current model automotive interior manufacturing and assembly processes, tooling, and equipment
  • Support of computer-based error and part tracking software and systems
  • Resolution of quality and production throughput issues through structured problem solving processes
  • Continuous incremental improvement of cost and quality metrics
  • Interface with advanced engineering to implement proposed engineering revisions
  • Must work closely with maintenance team to support operations
  • Develop, Review and track maintenance level PM on all Injection molding machines, chiller, tower, and all other equipment in the IMM area.
  • Overall equipment ownership in IMM as a lead troubleshooter and interface with OEM of equipment
  • Maintain and update SWI for SMED and color change
  • Weekly review of press safety checks
  • Layout of work cell-Operator side
  • SW audit to endure proper training in reference to safety checks

Required Skills/Education/Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and/or qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Injection Molding knowledge and experience in processing machines and supervision is required
  • Experience working in a high volume manufacturing facility with error proofing software systems, preferably automotive
  • Specific experience in manufacturing assembly and plastic joining technologies is required (i.e.: sonic welding, vibration welding, heat staking).

 

 

  • Other processes and technical knowledge that would be useful include:
    • Injection molding
    • Injection tooling
    • Robotic programming
    • Vacuum forming
    • Plastic laser scoring for PAB applications
    • Stitching
    • Tooling experience is highly preferred
