Job description

Position:

This is a second shift position that will work 12 hours per day on a rotating 3x4 schedule. This position is responsible to set up / change over promptly and accurately, start-up, and monitor processes of the injection molding process. Continuous improvement of production yield and efficiency, implementing and monitoring process controls, troubleshooting, reducing rework/scrap. The Set-Up Technician will work to maintain efficient runs of complex quality medical molded parts during production runs and act as a technical leader providing guidance and assistance to other operators and inspectors.  This position is at the New Britain, CT location. 

Key Goals:

Achieve the System development performance goals on the AVNA Report Card (Efficiency, Cost savings and continuous improvement), assigned objectives related to AVNA strategy, as well as working with the NPD and Project Management teams to successfully execute and launch new programs/strategies/systems for each.

Responsibilities:

  • Make mold changes, set-up, and start-up for a wide range of resins on injection mold machines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make process adjustments.
  • Ability to process automation (sprue picker, Robot, Vision, etc.…) systems.
  • Work with a process Engineering Tests and DOE’s as needed.
  • Material handling mixing, monitor of auxiliary equipment, and minor maintenance required.
  • Load programs and set process parameters.
  • Check safety devices on equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude hand tools, 100 % hands on position.
  • Communicate with other shifts to achieve production requirements and promote shift interaction and awareness.
  • Will assist process improvement projects.
  • Responsible to stop molding process due to quality concerns.
  • Molding machine maintenance.
  • Cleaning screw and barrel.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping conditions in working area, complies with all safety expectations, and observes safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs. (when necessary).
  • Ability to bend, walk, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Regular attendance is essential job function.

Key Attributes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent technical training.
  • 5+ years ‘experience of working in an injection molding position.
  • Significant experience with mold setups, molding machines, molding inspection molded parts, and secondary equipment.
  • Proficient in computers.
  • Ability to use ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experienced with medical grade resin materials.
  • Engel and Sodick molding machines experience preferred.
  • Good communication and writing skills
