The Opportunity:
In this role you will assist QA Dept. with support for the various Quality Systems at the Evadale Mill. You will help to sustain, build, and develop a "Best in class organization" to support the long-term growth of the business. You will help drive the execution of Quality Assurance's mission to provide accurate, relevant, and timely quality information for Evadale Mill's products to meet or exceed end use expectations for performance and consistency.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
  • Supervise the Hourly Quality Lab Employees.
  • Supervise all Quality lab testing, qualifications, hourly work schedule, supplies & inventory, material qualifications, and coordinate QA work orders.
  • Manage the training program for all hourly Quality lab employees.
  • Assist in product recall situations.
  • Provide technical support for paper testing lab activities and special project assignments.
  • Support implementation of new test methods that require comparative analysis.
  • Provide support to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 22001:2015 Food Safety system.
  • Participate in QA Call Duty rotation.
  • Oversee customer and internal Smurfit WestRock sample program.
  • Manage paper machine Outturn Room.
  • Provides backup support for the QA Engineer, QA Equipment Reliability Coordinator, and the QA Manager as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

What you need to exceed:
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of 3 years' experience in Quality and/or manufacturing experience in Pulp/Paper. BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science related scientific field is preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, SAP, Testream, Optivision, Microsoft Teams, Workforce Solutions is a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for dealing with diverse audiences.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to improve systems and processes.
