Opportunity Overview
We have an immediate opening for a Lab Manager/Supervisor to join our team at Shady Grove Fertility in Orlando, Florida.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekends and holiday rotations as needed.

In this role, the Lab Manager/Supervisor will:
Oversee the daily operations of a fertility laboratory, blending hands-on clinical embryology with staff management and regulatory compliance. To include Embryology & Andrology (The oversight includes Embryology, Andrology, and Endocrinology)- able to proficiency perform and train advanced IVF procedures such as ICSI, embryo biopsy for PGT, cryopreservation and semen processing.
Technical Responsibilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in all technical areas of the laboratory services and procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Identification, assessment and culture of oocytes
  • Sperm preparation and insemination of oocytes
  • Embryo culture
  • Assessment and selection of embryos for transfer
  • Embryo Vitrification, storage and warming.
  • Media preparation.
  • Oocyte Vitrification, storage and warming
  • Recording and reporting laboratory results in Artworks.
  • TBSA, PESA, TESA, TESE collection.
  • Oocyte denuding & ICSI insemination.
  • PGT biopsy
  • Achieve level of proficiency in all areas of the lab that allow for multitasking, training of junior staffers, and high productivity.

Manager Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Implementation and Monitoring of Operating Budget
  • Assures Safe and Adequate Staffing

Other Specific Requirements:
  • Undertake embryology laboratory procedures as directed. This includes advanced procedures requiring micromanipulation of gametes or embryos
  • Clear, professional and timely communication with staff, physicians and patients
  • Participate in Continuing Technical Improvement exercises
  • Maintain technical proficiency in routine laboratory procedures
  • Prepare staff work schedules
  • Develop the proficiency necessary for oversight of technical staff in their use of EMR
  • Assist in the management of the import and export of cryopreserved embryos and sperm and provide the data necessary to generate invoices for these services
  • Reviews and oversees cryopreservation program. Provide technical advice to lab staff
  • Supervises, orients, and instructs laboratory personnel and assists in performance evaluations
  • Oversees laboratory procedures and staff training and competency assessments (Embryology, Andrology, Endocrinology labs)
  • Interviews all new embryologist, and junior support staff
  • Aids in trouble shooting lab procedural issues
  • Attends departmental meetings and implements new processes as necessary to improve performance
  • Review budget and costs annually for laboratory
  • Consults with lab staff about quality control concerns and advises
  • Helps trouble shoot equipment issues
  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and policies are updated and reviewed annually by all Embryologists

Qualifications and Skills Include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Must have 5 years of hands-on embryology experience and 2+ years in leadership or managerial capacity
  • Must meet the CLIA requirements of education and experience for General Supervisor or Technical Supervisor
  • ABB/AAB certification/FL license preferred
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with Laboratory Operations Manual.
  • Must demonstrate skills and aptitude appropriate to the position.
  • Must demonstrate a good work ethic and commitment to participate in appropriate programs of continuing education and professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge in the laboratory specialty.
  • Must have ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Must have knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.).
  • Must have ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must have ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A.
