Northwest Suburbs, MN | Direct Hire | $90,000 โ€“ $114,000

An industry-leading manufacturer in the northwest suburbs is seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to support high-quality fabrication and manufacturing operations. This is a great opportunity for an inspector who enjoys hands-on work, technical problem-solving, and being closely involved with welded, fabricated, and specialty piping components.

In this role, you'll inspect innovative welded and fabricated components to ensure they meet customer specifications, industry codes, and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical aptitude, manufacturing inspection experience, and an active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.

Quality Inspector Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to integrate inspection activities into project schedules.
  • Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated components to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to welding and fabrication personnel to support proper techniques, workmanship, and quality practices.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, photos, and records for quality-related activities.
  • Review welding procedures, including WPS documentation, PQRs, WQTRs, and related records, to ensure adherence to project and industry requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of fabricated vessels, skidded systems, and internal vessel components.
  • Support in-house fabrication and inspection of PVC, PVDF, and PP components.

Required Travel:

  • Local and national travel required: approximately 20% โ€“ 25%.

Quality Inspector Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certification from a trade school, preferably in welding or a related discipline.
  • 5โ€“7 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASTM, ASME, and AWS D1.1 codes.
  • Understanding of NACE standards preferred.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting PVDF/PP piping welds for high-purity or semiconductor applications.
  • Experience inspecting PVC piping bonds and related assemblies.
  • Familiarity with WPS, WQTR, and PQR documentation.
  • Certified in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.
