HouseMaster

Oakley, CA โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 11 days ago

Job description

Job Overview:
A Home Inspection is a limited, non-invasive examination of the condition of a home, often in connection with the sale of that home. Home inspections are conducted by a Home Inspector who has the training and certifications to perform such inspections. The inspector prepares and delivers to the client a written report of findings. The client then uses the knowledge gained to make informed decisions about their pending real estate purchase. The home inspector describes the condition of the home at the time of inspection but does not guarantee future condition, efficiency, or life expectancy of systems or components.
Responsibilities & Duties:
1 Perform Home Inspections - Follow National Institute of Building Inspectors (NIBI) Inspection Procedures and Techniques with exceptional quality
  • Thoroughly inspect all areas including attic, crawl space, roof, etc. unless doing so creates risk of personal injury or property damage
  • Arrive to perform inspections early (10 minutes) and prepared
  • Dress professionally in your HouseMaster uniform for each home inspection performed.

2 Report Generation - Write clear, detailed reports with adequate supporting images. Home Inspectors will be provided thorough and comprehensive training on the HomeGauge platform - the report writing software.
  • Complete Home Inspection report within 12 hours of inspection. A completed report requires that the report is both created and delivered to the customer via upload of the report to the cloud.
  • Follow correct HomeGauge element rating systems as provided through your inspector training, and as detailed in the HomeGauge software.
  • Upload completed report to the "cloud", thus delivering direct access to the client. During employees probationary period (first 3 months of employment), send completed report to Director of Operations for review prior to uploading to the cloud.
  • Inspector will use detailed and appropriate descriptions when describing inspection elements. The Home Inspector will ask for help - either from the local HouseMaster office, or from HouseMaster/NIBI staff, when trying to describe home inspection element.

3 Customer Relations - The Home Inspector has two primary "customers". The first and primary customer is the person who hired you to do the home inspection. This can be either the home buyer (most of the time), or the home seller (typically for a pre-sale inspection.) The second customer is the Real Estate Agent who referred the buyer/seller. Typically the buyer/seller and the Real Estate Agent will be present during the home inspection. Because HouseMaster is primarily a PEOPLE business, it is essential that all customers are treated with the highest level of respect and courteousness.
  • Show respect and courteousness to buyer/seller, agent, and the home you are inspecting.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally. Always ask if clients have any questions.
  • Provide a concise and understandable verbal inspection summary to clients. It is important that they receive an overview of the inspection findings, along with access to ask any questions.
  • Provide ease of accessibility both during and after the inspection for customers to ask questions or request clarification.
  • Create rapport with local agents and other referral partners. Real estate agents who like you and trust you will make certain you remain at the top of their Home Inspection referral list.

4 Administrative Responsibilities - Complete all requested inspection procedures in a timely manner.
Update your availability calendar weekly. If you need to request an extended time-off, please provide a two-week advance notice.
  • Answer your phone, emails, and other communications in a timely manner.
  • Provide prompt, professional, and accommodating response to customer complaints. Make certain that the Director of Operations is informed of any complaints or problems immediately so they can assist in responding.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the "company manual"

Qualifications
  • Personal Characteristics - Home Inspector must have an attention to detail, have the ability to work well with people, self-discipline, and a willingness to work hard.
  • Other experiences that could be helpful in accomplishing the Job of Home Inspector, but not required - construction, electrical, plumbing, sales, or customer service.
  • Home Inspector Certification - HouseMaster will train home inspectors through NIBI, and all expenses will be paid for by HouseMaster.
