Location: Rutherford, NJ

Shift: 4pm-3:30am (Monday-Thursday)

Pay: $26-$28/hour

Job Description

The Quality Inspector operates automated coordinate measuring machines and precision instruments to perform accurate dimensional inspections, interpret measurement data, and ensure products meet defined specifications and quality standards within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Aberlink and Zeiss automated Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) software to measure and analyze dimensional data.
  • Accurately align parts on the CMM and select relevant features for measurement in accordance with inspection plans.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to accurately measure, inspect, and evaluate parts.
  • Interpret CMM measurement results and identify potential quality issues or deviations from specifications.
  • Perform dimensional inspections as defined by applicable inspection plans and procedures.
  • Measure and verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring devices, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Read and interpret intermediate-level blueprints and engineering drawings to determine inspection requirements.
  • Complete detailed inspection reports using results displayed on inspection equipment and software.
  • Record non-conforming material in the appropriate logs and promptly alert supervision when issues arise.
  • Perform necessary transactions in the ERP system to maintain accurate inventory and inspection records.
  • Conduct daily maintenance on CMM equipment, including routine checks to ensure calibration, safety, and proper functionality.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities by contributing accurate data and feedback to continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Skills

  • 2–5 years of experience in inspection utilizing automated equipment such as CMMs and vision systems.
  • Hands-on experience operating Aberlink and Zeiss automated Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Proficiency in performing dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Intermediate understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read and interpret intermediate-level blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, and quality inspection within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to interpret CMM measurement data and identify potential quality issues.
  • Basic ERP system skills to perform inventory and inspection-related transactions.
  • High school diploma or GED, or related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
