Quality Assurance Inspector III - 1st Shift

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a 1st shift - Quality Assurance Inspector - Manufacturing in Harvey, Illinois. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this person will be responsible for performing product inspections using various types of measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges. This person will be responsible for preparing reports to document their findings.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 -5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:

  • Interpret manufacturing specifications and apply procedures, specifications, and standards to ensure product compliance.
  • Prepare job information including documents, gauges, quality history, etc. for production teams prior to the start of job setups.
  • Monitor Statistical Process Controls on key characteristics as defined.
  • Perform inspection of manufactured parts, tooling, and fixtures to ensure final product conformance to customer specifications.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports and corrective actions.
  • Complete, inspect and distribute all quality records and documents.
  • Maintain job files for production run data, first piece approvals, visual alerts, etc.
  • Calibrate gauges and maintain calibration records for gauges and other equipment.
  • Assist in the training of new production personnel in gauges, gauging techniques, equipment, Statistical Process Control, data collection, and quality policies and procedures.

What you’ll bring:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled in a variety of precision measuring devices including calipers, micrometers, and custom fixtures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, and Power point).

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Gain an understanding of your team and the Operations Management team.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Gain an understanding of the current training materials and procedures your team owns.
  • Work together with quality team members to identify short- and long-term process improvement ideas.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Create, update, and share inspection documentation as necessary.
  • Collaborate with operations team to address quality issues timely.
  • Lead Lean initiatives to drive process improvements.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $49,200 - $67,650. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
