Position Summary:
The E-Coat Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring electrocoat (e-coat) parts meet customer specifications and quality standards. This position involves both inspection and other quality related activities, including testing, visual inspection, and labeling, while maintaining compliance with established work instructions, quality alerts, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Testing
* Calibrate inspection equipment.
* Perform dry film thickness (DFT) checks to verify compliance with customer specifications.
* Conduct cure and adhesion/wipe tests
* Record inspection results accurately and maintain proper documentation.
* Perform additional inspection duties as assigned and comply with active quality alerts.
* Identify and respond to non-conforming product, including issuing holds, rejects, or rework as necessary.
* Verify correct labeling and packaging for traceability and customer requirements.
Process Duties
* Perform visual inspections for coating and surface defects.
* Follow rework procedures when required.
* Support safe launch activities to ensure defect-free production for new or high-risk parts.
Quality & Compliance
* Demonstrate knowledge of customer requirements, including coating and thickness standards.
* Apply and follow all relevant work instructions for inspection, coating, testing, and packaging.
* Maintain compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
* Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and quality personnel to resolve issues quickly.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Ability to use inspection tools and perform measurement/testing procedures (DFT, cure, adhesion).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize coating defects.
* Good documentation, organization, and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced production environment.
* Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) is required.
Work Environment:
* Manufacturing floor environment
* Requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and adherence to all safety protocols.
