Geotechnical and Materials Engineer

Location: London Ontario

THE OPPORTUNITY:

On behalf of our client, a leading geotechnical and environmental engineering firm, we are looking to add a Geotechnical and Materials Engineer to lead their dynamic team. This individual will oversee all engineering, laboratory testing, field testing, and business development within the organization while building strong relationships within London and Southwestern Ontario.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Manage the daily technical and administrative operations of the London office, and provide technical leadership for geotechnical, pavement, materials-testing, and construction-related projects.
  • Supervise and support laboratory and field staff.
  • Review technical reports, proposals, laboratory results, and engineering recommendations.
  • Ensure field and laboratory activities comply with applicable specifications, standards, and quality-management requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with municipal, consulting, construction, and private-sector clients.
  • Identify and pursue new project and business-development opportunities in London and the surrounding region.
  • Prepare proposals, work programs, budgets, and project schedules.
  • Monitor project costs, deliverables, and invoicing.
  • Coordinate with Engtec's senior management and other offices to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within the required timelines.
  • Promote a professional, collaborative, and safety-conscious working environment.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, pavement engineering, construction inspection, or laboratory testing.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated project-management and staff-supervision experience.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client-management skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable Ontario specifications, standards, and construction practices.
  • Established professional relationships within the London area and with local municipalities would be considered a strong asset.
