The Role
This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.
Engineering Manager 2 will be responsible for a group of On Site Technical Engineers in Fleet Sustainment Engineering. The manager will be a first line management representative and responsible for day to day communications and supervisory personnel tasks including employee evaluations, training, growth, mentoring, and disciplinary actions. The manager will be experienced and knowledgable of technical requirements , overhaul and modernization. The manager will make job assignments, maintain quality objectives, and maintain cost and schedule objectives. Additionally, the manager will be familiar with department objectives and ensure that design personnel are complete with all training and that integrated products are developed in concert with the impacted disciplines as necessary. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specific operations. Active willingness to investigate and participate in new business opportunities with other ship classes or other ventures is also highly desirable.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent. A Master's of Science degree in Engineering and professional registration with 4 years of relevant experience are preferred.
