Deployment Engineering Manager

Path Robotics

Job description

Build the Path Forward
At Path Robotics, we're attacking a trillion dollar opportunity - doing things that have never been done before to support an industry hurting from a lack of skilled labor. Large, difficult problems are what Path tackles every day and our people are our greatest asset to get that job done. Our intelligent, hardworking team of people do the impossible every single day, yet remain incredibly kind, humble, and always ready to support one another.
Big, hard problems are our everyday work, and our team of intelligent, humble, and driven people make the impossible possible together.
As the Deployment Engineering Manager, you will lead the technical squad responsible for bringing our state-of-the-art robotic welding cells alive on the customer floor. Reporting directly to our Senior Manager of Deployment Engineering, you will be the driving force behind scaling our field operations. Your core mandate is to systematize our field execution, radically compress installation timelines, and drive first-time quality (FTQ) across every cell deployment, minimizing the need for engineering callbacks or post-handover triaging
What You'll Do
Scaling & Team Standardization
  • Scale the deployment engineering function by recruiting, training, and onboarding technical field talent to support a rapidly expanding customer cell footprint.
  • Build repeatable infrastructure playbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and strict commissioning checklists to accelerate time-to-value for customers.
  • Implement field metrics frameworks focused on tracking installation hours, system calibration efficiency, and team resource capacity.

First-Time Quality (FTQ) & Efficiency Improvement
  • Own the out-of-box quality metrics for cell rollouts, implementing rigorous pre-shipment validation protocols at Path's facility to completely eradicate field-stage integration failures.
  • Systematize cell configuration and calibration (including perception sensors, pneumatic systems, and robotic arms) ensuring deployments are structurally hardened against site environmental variables.
  • Reduce cycle times for hardware-in-the-loop validation, mapping out bottlenecks during deployment loops to steadily drive down field labor costs per cell.

Technical Triage & Process Optimization (Jira Lifecycle)
  • Own the Field Jira Lifecycle: Establish and maintain a highly structured Jira workflow for the field engineering team; ensure all on-site bugs, edge cases, and hardware anomalies are clearly documented, categorized, and tracked from discovery to resolution.
  • Rapid SLA Triage & Response: Act as the primary internal escalation point for the field team, actively responding to and routing critical incoming tickets during live cell deployments to unblock on-site engineers in real time.
  • Data-Driven Engineering Feedback: Analyze patterns in field Jira tickets to pinpoint recurring hardware or software failures; present this data to Product Engineering and Fleet Operations to prioritize bug fixes and product hardening.
  • Root-Cause Analysis (RCA): Ensure every major field deployment blocker receives a comprehensive RCA write-up in Jira, transforming field mistakes into institutional knowledge that directly prevents future deployment failures.
  • Cross-Functional System Stabilization: Bridge Operations and Product Engineering to build more deployable, serviceable hardware form factors based directly on field lessons.
Who You Are
  • 5+ years of experience in deployment engineering, field engineering, systems integration, industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience leading, managing, or developing technical engineers in a field or customer-facing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of complex electromechanical systems; experience with industrial robotics, automation, controls, or manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and standardize technical processes, SOPs, commissioning procedures, and operational metrics.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems and driving structured root-cause analysis across hardware, software, and operational issues.
  • Strong project and operational management skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer deployments and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience using Jira or similar issue-tracking systems to manage technical issues from discovery through resolution.
  • Ability to use data and operational metrics to identify bottlenecks, prioritize improvements, and measure results.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Engineering, Product, Manufacturing, Operations, and customer-facing teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where processes are evolving and the organization is scaling.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as required to support deployments and develop the field team
Why You'll Love It Here
  • Daily free lunch to keep you fueled and connected with the team
  • Flexible PTO so you can take the time you need, when you need it
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 6 weeks fully paid parental leave, plus an additional 6-8 weeks for birthing parents (12-14 weeks total)
  • 401(k) retirement plan through Empower
  • Generous employee referral bonuses-help us grow our team!
