Job description


MISSION / SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Associate Process Engineer to join our dynamic team and continue to our ongoing process optimization and continuous improvement program (GPS). As an Associate Process Engineer you will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning)to identify areas of improvement within our cup and carton manufacturing processes, implement innovative solutions and reapply across our sites to drive operational excellence. This role will play crucial part in improving efficiency, reducing waste, ensuring highest quality standards and drive operational excellence in our production environment. The position is part of a world class talented engineering & technical team at GPI's Foodservice Technical Center and will report to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Readiness and Integration

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains
  • Conduct data analysis and performance assessments to quantify process improvements, validate outcomes and drive reapplication
  • Lead and/or assist in the design, testing and implementation of process improvements, including equipment upgrades/changes, changes in SOP's, and workflow adjustments.
  • Participate in root cause analysis leveraging GPS tools to identify process inefficiencies, defects, and deviations from quality standards, proposing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support the development and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to ensure consistent and sustainable process execution.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, quality and maintenance to ensure smooth and sustainable implementation of process improvements.
  • Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on industry trends and best practices in process optimization, continuous improvement and engineering methodologies.
  • Contribute and/or develop regular process reports and communicate findings , challenges and successes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years relevant experience in process optimization, continuous improvement and reapplication of best practices across multiple sites.
  • EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
    • Proficiency in relevant software tools such as data analysis software (Excel, Phyton), process simulation tools, and statistical analysis tools.

    SKILLS:

    • Ability to plan and execute DOE.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset towards identifying and addressing process inefficiencies.
    • Solid understanding of process engineering principles and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Ability to overcome technical challenges in the process optimization and reapplication of best practices across Foodservice facilities
    • Must have demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
    • Must have the ability to drive multiple concurrent assignments to completion.

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
    • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
    • Position may require up to 30% travel.
    • Occasional ability to work remotely.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 40 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
