As a Senior Engineer on Best Buy's Tools & User Enablement team, you'll help shape and support the BI platforms, reporting and analytics tools and data capabilities across the company. What you'll do
- Administer BI and analytics platforms across cloud and on-prem environments, including upgrades, security updates, permissions, and compliance activities.
- Solve complex technical challenges and improve the reliability and performance of critical tools.
- Partner with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to evaluate and implement the best solutions.
- Strengthen engineering practices through code reviews, architecture reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support production operations and help teams deliver high-quality outcomes on important business initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related experience, or equivalent software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience administering BI reporting and analytics platforms, including installation, upgrades, user access management, and application support.
- 2+ years of experience with data engineering, BI, and visualization tools such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Big Query, Google Data Studio, Google Cloud Platform technologies and GitHub.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust, collaborate across teams, and influence decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Experience building data pipelines and BI integrations using cloud-native technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Python, Java, or other data engineering technologies.
- A passion for learning and exploring new data and analytics technologies.
- Familiarity with SOX controls including audits, permissions governance, and experience working with external partners.
