Position Overview

The Reconstruction Project Director (PD) is responsible for the end-to-end leadership of reconstruction projects, with full accountability for financial performance, client experience, and project outcomes. The Project Director serves as the primary owner of scope, budget, margin, and client communication, ensuring reconstruction projects are delivered profitably, compliantly, and to Kustom standards. This role partners closely with Superintendents and field leadership to align execution with approved scope, schedule, and budget while proactively managing risk, change, and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, finalize, and manage scopes of work and estimates, including Xactimate
    documentation
  • Own project budgets, margin performance, forecasting, and cost controls
  • Review and approve change orders, supplements, and pricing adjustments
  • Participate in Work-in-Progress (WIP) reviews and revenue forecasting
  • Ensure projects are prepared for final invoicing and successful closeout
Client & Stakeholder Leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, carriers, and key stakeholders
  • Set and manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead issue resolution and client escalations as needed
  • Maintain strong relationships that drive customer satisfaction and repeat business
Project Oversight & Coordination
  • Partner with Superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with approved scope and budget
  • Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to protect outcomes
  • Approve deviations from standard protocols when required to ensure project success
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company standards
Operational & Strategic Contribution
  • Own overall project outcomes and performance
  • Prioritize resources across multiple projects in partnership with Operations leadership
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on margin, efficiency, and delivery quality
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and margin
  • Advanced knowledge of reconstruction estimating and scope development
  • Excellent client communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Sound judgment and decision-making under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Proficiency with Xactimate and project documentation systems
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of experience in construction and/or restoration project leadership
  • Demonstrated experience managing project financials and customer relationships
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and adjusters preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This role operates in a combination of office and active job-site environments. The Project Director must be adaptable, organized, and comfortable leading in dynamic, fast-paced conditions with the ability to perform all office activities typically expected in an office setting, including:

  • Remaining seated for extended periods
  • Engaging in computer work
  • Lifting and carrying office supplies (up to 25 pounds)
  • Regularly required to talk and hear while performing job duties
