Job Title: Quality Control Technician - Data Review
Position Type: Skilled Technician
Employment Type: 9-month contract
Work Location: Cary, Illinois
Schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $28.00-$31.00 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support quality control and quality assurance operations within a regulated laboratory environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with chemists, microbiologists, and quality team members to review laboratory data, assess test results, support documentation activities, and assist with investigations related to out-of-specification and out-of-trend results.

This role requires strong attention to detail, experience working in a GxP or cGMP environment, and the ability to accurately review analytical chemistry data using electronic laboratory systems and quality documentation practices.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Data Review
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance data review activities in support of laboratory operations.
  • Review simple laboratory data, including reagent review, pH data review, and visual inspection data.
  • Review complex analytical data, including chromatography and instrument-generated results.
  • Review data generated from systems and equipment such as HPLC, GC, titrators, density meters, and FTIR.
  • Evaluate data for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laboratory procedures.
  • Identify discrepancies, missing information, documentation gaps, or data-integrity concerns and escalate as appropriate.
Quality Documentation and Electronic Systems
  • Use electronic programs and laboratory systems to evaluate and document quality data.
  • Support documentation of quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Ensure laboratory records are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain clear, organized, and traceable documentation related to reviewed data and quality activities.
  • Support timely completion of data-review assignments and related documentation.
Investigation Support
  • Assist with investigations related to out-of-specification and out-of-trend results.
  • Review supporting laboratory data and documentation to help identify potential causes of unusual or unexpected results.
  • Collaborate with chemists, microbiologists, and quality personnel to gather relevant information for investigations.
  • Support documentation of investigation findings, observations, and follow-up actions.
  • Escalate potential quality or compliance concerns in a timely manner.
Quality and Compliance
  • Perform work in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements and applicable GxP expectations.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures, quality standards, and data-integrity practices.
  • Support compliance with internal quality systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, documentation quality, and timely completion of assigned work.
  • Perform additional quality control or quality assurance activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a GxP laboratory environment.
  • Experience working in a current Good Manufacturing Practice or other cGxP-regulated environment.
  • Experience performing analytical chemistry data review.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify documentation or data discrepancies.
  • Ability to work effectively with laboratory, quality, and cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and complete documentation accurately.
  • Ability to work the Sunday to Thursday schedule, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Experience reviewing chromatography data.
  • Experience using Empower, LabX, and Omnic software.
  • Experience reviewing data from HPLC, GC, titrators, density meters, FTIR, or similar analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Experience supporting out-of-specification or out-of-trend investigations.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated laboratory environments.
