Job description

Quality Control Manager
Location:
 Wilmer, Tx
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Quality Control (QC) Manager provides leadership and oversight of quality control activities for an electrical construction project. This role is responsible for ensuring all electrical installations, prefabricated assemblies, testing, and turnover documentation comply with contract requirements, applicable codes and standards, and Hays Electrical Services’ Corporate Quality Management System (CQMS).

Serving as the primary onsite quality lead within HES scope, the QC Manager drives disciplined field execution, inspection compliance, and documentation integrity. This position works closely with project leadership, field supervision, commissioning teams, and client representatives to support inspection readiness, energization readiness, and successful system turnover, without assuming authority beyond HES’ defined scope of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the Corporate Quality Management System (CQMS) within the project’s electrical scope.
  • Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure field installation aligns with approved requirements.
  • Identify quality risks, Definable Features of Work (DFOW), and required inspection points during planning and execution.
  • Perform routine field inspections of electrical installations, prefabrication assemblies, and equipment to verify compliance with specifications and workmanship standards.
  • Enforce installation requirements including A/B path segregation, grounding and bonding, labeling, and equipment alignment.
  • Verify required inspections are completed and documented prior to concealment of work.
  • Maintain consistent field presence to identify and correct deficiencies in real time.
  • Maintain accurate and current project quality records within applicable project-related software platforms, ensuring entries are complete, timely, traceable, and audit-ready.
  • Execute Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring hold points, witness points, and inspection milestones are achieved.
  • Verify completion and documentation of required electrical testing (e.g., insulation resistance, continuity, torque, grounding).
  • Support commissioning and energization readiness by confirming installations are complete, tested, and compliant.
  • Participate in system walkdowns, inspections, and readiness reviews with GC, Owner, and commissioning teams.
  • Identify, document, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring timely corrective action and closure.
  • Support root-cause analysis for recurring or critical quality issues.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready quality records, including inspections, test reports, and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Superintendents, Prefabrication, and Commissioning teams to integrate quality into all activities.
  • Provide routine quality reporting, including inspection status, NCR trends, and commissioning readiness.
  • Track quality performance metrics such as inspection completion, NCR trends, and rework.
  • Identify gaps and implement corrective actions to improve field execution and reduce defects.
  • Ensure all activities remain within HES authority, limited to inspection, verification, documentation, and corrective action for electrical scope only.

Education & Qualifications

Required

  • 5–10 years of experience in electrical construction, QA/QC, or commissioning support within large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NEMA, and applicable electrical installation standards; familiarity with NETA testing requirements preferred.
  • Proven experience performing field inspections of electrical systems, including power distribution, grounding/bonding, and critical equipment installations.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, one-lines, specifications, and submittals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quality documentation, including inspections, test records, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with field leadership, GC/Owner representatives, and commissioning teams.
  • High level of attention to detail with a disciplined approach to inspection, verification, and documentation.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction Management, engineering technology, or related field.
  • Certifications such as: ASQ Quality Technician (CQT) or Quality Inspector (CQI), NETA Technician (Level II/III), NICET certifications, CQM-C (USACE) or ISO Auditor credentials
