What is a quality control machinist?

Quality Control Machinists are skilled professionals responsible for ensuring that manufactured parts and products meet specified standards of quality and precision. They inspect, measure, and test machined components using various tools and equipment to verify accuracy and adherence to technical drawings or specifications. Quality Control Machinists play a key role in maintaining product consistency, identifying defects, and helping improve manufacturing processes. Their work is essential to prevent faulty products from reaching customers and to uphold the company's reputation for quality.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a quality control machinist?

To thrive as a Quality Control Machinist, you need a solid understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and precision measurement, usually backed by technical training or an apprenticeship. Familiarity with tools like calipers, micrometers, CMMs (coordinate measuring machines), and quality management systems such as ISO 9001 is typically required.
