Job description

From a single asphalt shingle manufacturing facility in 1982, Atlas has grown to 36 facilities in North America providing worldwide product distribution. Today, products from the company's four major divisions, Polyiso Roof & Wall Insulation, Shingle & Underlayment, Molded Products, and Web Technologies, are manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities and shipped from our network of manufacturing plants and distribution facilities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Atlas Roofing Shingle & Underlayment Division is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician for Daingerfield, TX.
Quality Control Lab Technician Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform tests required to check integrity of raw materials, including asphalt, modified asphalt, sand, filler, granules, and headlap.
  • Investigate production quality by performing tests as required.
  • Assist in the training of production employees to perform quality testing.
  • Design, construct, and update, display modules for analysis of finished products.
  • Assist Manager in the Competitive Audits and Sister Audits.
  • Communicate with Supervision and production employees as to quality issues during production process.
  • Complete audits of production process.
  • Assist in the analysis of complaint samples.
  • Provide aid to customers and sales representatives concerning technical assistance and recommendations.
  • Supervise production employees in the absence of a Production Supervisor.
  • Transport injured employees to the emergency room if required.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new products.
  • Maintain cleanliness of lab and all Quality Control hold areas.

Quality Control Lab Technician Experience
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in a manufacturing facility

Quality Control Lab Technician Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Computer skills required in Excel, Word, PeopleSoft, and other programs exclusive to Quality Assurance
  • Mathematical skills with an emphasis on statistical processes
  • Communication skills required to effectively work with production and to assist on plant tours
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Must be able to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test

Quality Control Lab Technician Education, Licenses & Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
