QC Lab Technician

Location: Crosby, Texas - Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

The QC Lab Technician is responsible for testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and product specifications. This position provides technical support to plant operations and internal teams through laboratory analysis, data management, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance activities. The QC Lab Technician plays a key role in maintaining product quality, laboratory safety, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Accurately record and enter laboratory test results into computer systems and databases.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate, and assist with repairs of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Document, review, and communicate test results to operations, quality, and management personnel.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and laboratory safety initiatives.
  • Support investigations involving safety incidents, customer complaints, and non-conforming materials.
  • Review, update, and maintain laboratory procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor laboratory inventory levels and coordinate ordering of laboratory supplies and consumables.
  • Prepare standards, reagents, and chemical solutions in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts.
  • Work independently while maintaining effective communication with plant personnel and management.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements amp; Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a chemical, analytical, or quality control laboratory environment.
  • Experience testing physical properties such as density, viscosity, pH, and other product quality parameters.
  • Knowledge of wet chemistry techniques, including acid number, cloud point, and related analytical methods.
  • Experience operating and maintaining analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatographs (GC), High Performance Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC), FTIR spectrometers, titrators, and similar laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to prepare chemical solutions, standards, and reagents using approved formulas and procedures.
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety and quality standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain accurate laboratory records.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
