Job Summary:
The QC Team Leader is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating daily quality control activities while actively participating in inspection and measurement processes. This position ensures efficient job flow, accurate job order processing, and adherence to quality standards within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
The QC Team Leader will provide direct leadership and support to a team of Inspectors, Gage Calibration Technicians, and CMM Operators/Programmers, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Coordination
โ€ข Lead, direct, and support a team of QC Inspectors, Gage Calibration Technicians, and CMM Operators/Programmers.
โ€ข Serve as a working leader by actively participating in inspection and measurement activities as needed.
โ€ข Assign daily tasks and prioritize workload to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
โ€ข Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members.
โ€ข Monitor team performance and address production issues in real-time.
Job Coordination & Processing
โ€ข Coordinate incoming and in-process inspection jobs to ensure efficient workflow.
โ€ข Review and process job orders, routers, and inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness.
โ€ข Ensure proper allocation of resources (personnel, equipment, and time) across all QC functions.
โ€ข Act as the primary point of contact between QC and Production, Engineering, and Customer Service.
Inspection & Quality Assurance
โ€ข Perform and support first article, in-process, and final inspections as needed.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with customer specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
โ€ข Review inspection reports and documentation for accuracy prior to release.
โ€ข Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
CMM & Technical Oversight
โ€ข Support and guide CMM Operators/Programmers in setup, programming, and execution.
โ€ข Ensure proper use and maintenance of inspection equipment and software.
โ€ข Troubleshoot measurement or programming issues as they arise.
Gage Calibration Oversight
โ€ข Oversee gage calibration activities and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
โ€ข Maintain calibration schedules and ensure all equipment remains within certification.
โ€ข Ensure accurate tracking within gage management systems.
Continuous Improvement
โ€ข Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow within QC operations.
โ€ข Support implementation of process improvements and best practices.
โ€ข Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
โ€ข Experience with CMM operation and/or programming (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar)
โ€ข Familiarity with gage calibration processes and tracking systems
โ€ข Proficiency with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.)
โ€ข Experience with ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation
Education and Experience:
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred.
โ€ข 5+ years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment (aerospace/defense preferred).
โ€ข 2+ years of leadership or lead experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, feel/reach with hands/arms, talk and hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit and walk. The employee is occasionally required to bend and stop, push and pull, reach above shoulder level, kneel, squat, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
