Position Overview

Slate is seeking a hands-on City Manager to oversee cleaning operations, quality assurance, staffing support, and client satisfaction within an assigned market. This is not a desk or office management position. We are looking for a leader who is comfortable working in the field, training employees, inspecting work, solving problems, and supporting operations wherever needed.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with cleaning industry experience who takes ownership, leads by example, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure every project is completed to Slate standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
  • Serve as the primary field representative for Slate within the assigned city or region.
  • Conduct site assessments and walkthroughs for new client quotes and proposals.
  • Support new account launches and operational rollouts.
  • Perform routine and emergency site visits as needed.
  • Assist with staffing coverage when necessary.
Quality Assurance & Inspections
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled QA inspections.
  • Identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Verify completion of client requirements and service standards.
  • Submit inspection reports, photos, and recommendations.
Employee Training & Development
  • Provide hands-on training for new and existing cleaners.
  • Coach team members on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and client expectations.
  • Perform side-by-side training during shifts.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to Operations and HR.
Deep Clean & Special Projects
  • Lead and participate in deep cleaning projects.
  • Assist with project planning and execution.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Support emergency cleanups and special service requests.
Equipment & Supply Management
  • Deliver equipment, supplies, and materials to client locations as needed.
  • Conduct inventory audits.
  • Ensure teams have the tools required to perform services successfully.
  • Report damaged or missing equipment.
Client Relations
  • Participate in client walkthroughs and inspections.
  • Address client concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and site contacts.
  • Represent Slate with professionalism at all times.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of commercial cleaning, janitorial, facilities, or related industry experience.
  • Previous supervisory, lead cleaner, QA inspector, or operations experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to train and motivate employees.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the assigned market.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Comfortable working overnight, early morning, weekends, and flexible schedules.
