Job description

SHIFT โ€“ 1st shift; 5am โ€“ 3:30 pm
Reports to Plant Manager
Pay: $17-20/hour depending on experienceWeโ€™re hiring immediately for a Quality Control team member who takes pride in precision and believes every job should be done right the first time.   • Ensure product adheres to a defined set of quality criteria and meets the requirements of the customer.
Responsibilities
  • Perform quality checks throughout the production process to ensure standards are being met.
  • Monitor quality levels, escalating concern to Plant Manager.
Work Activities
  • Perform quality check against proofs.
  • Perform quality check against the color standard folder.
  • Perform the Sutherland Rub Test and verify readability of bar codes.
  • Confirm Line Clear Procedure has been performed according to procedures.
  • Perform quality check of registrations, cracked scores, etc. within the Die Cutting Department.
  • Perform quality checks within the Gluing Department.
  • Create case/roll labels.
  • Perform preloading quality checks.
Detailed Work Activities
  • When plates get to press operator for printing, check printed copy against proof. At that time, also check the printed sheet against the stepped film die line.
  • Once job is in the register, the Quality Control Department will check for color and registration against the color standard folder. They will check bar code or code number against the original proof.
  • Quality Control Department will check run every 20 minutes.
  • The day after the job has been run, QC will perform the Sutherland Rub Test.
  • If bar coded, they will scan for readability.
  • Before next item is printed, QC Department will confirm that the Line Clear Procedure has been performed.
  • Once all of the above items have been completed, the job will move onto the Die Cutting Department. QC will check registration, cracked scores, etc. The Line Clear Procedure will be performed once the job is complete.
  • The job will then be scrapped and once again QC will confirm that a Line Clear Procedure has been completed.
  • The job will next move to the Gluing Department. QC will check for any folding or gluing issues. A Line Clear Procedure will be performed.
  • Once gluing is complete, the order is palletized and banded. Printed sample is attached to each bundle. Upon completion glue operator will have QC Department create case/roll labels. All labels will be double checked against the job order. They will then give all labels to the Glue Department, who will in turn also check them against the job order.
  • Palletized orders are then moved to the Shipping Department where they are staged until the freight carrier arrives. Before loading, printed samples and shipping labels are checked against the Packing List and Bill of Lading.
  • Other minor or incidental tasks related to the position as assigned.

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; climb stairs; use hands and fingers; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or handle up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is regularly working near moving mechanical parts.
