This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector to join our team. The Quality Inspector will inspect and test machined, fabricated, and assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. The inspector will use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. Inspection of incoming materials, conduct in-process inspections, and perform final inspections to ensure all products meet our quality standards.
Scope of Responsibilities
  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
  • Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate PPE, including fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the assigned work area and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality specifications
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Maintain inspection reports and discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected.
  • Generate and document non-conformances in the QT9 system, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Mark items with details such as acceptance or rejection status.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Must be highly proficient with measuring dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, height gages, and other high precsion measurement devices.
  • Analyze test data and make computations as necessary to determine test results.
  • Ability to write routine memos and correspondence.

Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years in a hands-on quality role
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience as a QC Inspector in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using Quality Management systems, particularly QT9
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Must embrace safe and environmentally responsible workplace practices
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Perform all responsibilities satisfactorily

Position Requirements
  • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and adhere to physical requirements as well as wear the appropriate PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and mask).
  • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
  • Must have the ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
  • Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

1st Shift M-F 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
