Job description

The Director of Project Management, Lithium, is a senior-level position that leads the Mineral Development project team to complete projects to support the safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective lithium projects through the implementation of human performance improvement tools and engineering practices and principles. This position will be supporting operations at the BHE Renewables direct lithium extraction (DLE) plant in Calipatria, CA. The position will develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders necessary for the project's success. Directly responsible for project management including due diligence activities, planning, scheduling, and completion of internal and contracted work tasks needed to meet project deadlines for all stages of lithium and mineral development activities while ensuring the project is free of safety, environmental and regulatory violations.

  • Manage internal and external resources for the timely completion of projects related to mineral development. This includes planning, scheduling and completion of required work tasks with a Target Zero mindset.
  • Leads the acquisition and/or completion of all necessary permits, regulatory approvals, landowner surface and mineral rights, and environmental compliance activities.
  • Performs and/or provides leadership on due diligence activities to validate and verify assumptions and designs for mineral development projects including but not limited to supply; processes for recovery and conversion of mineral compounds; risk management and mitigation; and quality assurance/quality control.
  • Responsible for working with colleagues inside BHE Renewables to develop Project Execution Plans (PEP), including focus on work task identification and scoping; full team project mobilization to take advantage of lessons learned; performance goals; quality assurance/quality control and environmental compliance programs; risk management and mitigation; stakeholder communication; and other project-specific development activities as needed.
  • Performs research and analysis for use in development of business strategies for opportunities pertaining to mineral development.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
  • Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact safe, reliable operation.
