Job description

STS Technical Services is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead inspection operations and drive quality performance in a growing manufacturing environment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role is responsible for overseeing daily QC activities, managing inspection teams, and ensuring products meet both internal standards and customer requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Not a desk job. You are expected to be on the floor, solving problems in real time, supporting your team, and keeping production moving without sacrificing quality.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Quality Control inspection teams
  • Supervise and support QC personnel, including performance management and team development
  • Step in as needed to support inspections and production activities
  • Conduct training related to quality control processes and standards
  • Reinforce a culture of safety, accountability, and respect across teams
  • Ensure inspections are completed on parts, assemblies, and finished products to meet specifications
  • Maintain accurate and complete quality documentation
  • Identify, contain, and escalate quality issues that impact delivery or performance
  • Execute and oversee corrective actions for nonconformances and recurring defects
  • Maintain visibility of product status throughout QC and production processes
  • Perform routine mechanical and electrical inspections and audits
  • Oversee First Article Inspections and customer-specific quality requirements
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality metrics, KPIs, and trends to leadership
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Project Management to resolve issues
  • Support internal and external audits, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications
  • Experience supervising or managing Quality Control or similar personnel
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control or manufacturing inspection
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience with corrective actions and root cause analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; ERP experience such as Epicor and SharePoint preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Degree in quality engineering, technical field, or related discipline preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training or certification preferred
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships across Production, Safety, Quality, HR, and leadership teams
