Job description

Summary:
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing quality assurance systems and quality control activities within the fabrication facility. This role ensures compliance with applicable quality standards and internal procedures while providing direct oversight of inspections, testing, and acceptance of materials, in‑process work, and finished products. The position supports operational excellence by performing inspections, audits, training, corrective action oversight, and quality verification while promoting a strong culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve quality assurance and quality control programs for the fabrication facility
  • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final quality inspections of materials, components, and assembled products
  • Verify fabrication and assembly work meets drawings, specifications, and quality requirements
  • Identify, document, and track non‑conformances; coordinate rework, corrective, and preventive actions
  • Maintain inspection checklists, quality records, and acceptance documentation
  • Support development and enforcement of standard work instructions and quality procedures
  • Partner with shop leadership to address quality issues and drive process improvements

Audits, Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain QA, QC, and other documentation, logs, training records, and compliance reports
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and corrective action responses
  • Track, trend, and report quality and safety performance metrics
  • Ensure documentation supports traceability, audit readiness, and customer expectations

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance and/or quality control within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
  • Hands‑on experience performing inspections and verifying product conformance
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident or non‑conformance investigations
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality requirements
  • Strong analytical, documentation, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Quality certifications (ISO, internal auditor training, or similar)
  • Experience in a regulated or government‑contracted environment
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement or Lean principles

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to work routinely in an industrial shop environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs as required
  • Occasional exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and moving equipment
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
