Job description

We are currently looking for a Quality Control Technician in Ringwood, ILL.

JOB SUMMARY: ย ย 

ย 

Under the general supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Control Supervisor, the QC Technician controls the release of all raw materials used in making TPU and tests all intermediate and finished product on the site. While on shift, the job holder assists production with on-line quality control. ย The position works predominantly independent and must have the strength to stop production. The QC Technician should be able to act independently to help solve equipment and procedure problems.

The position ensures quality control testing and recordkeeping in a safe, accurate and orderly manner.ย 

The QC Technician assists the Quality Assurance Manager in managing the Ringwood Quality System and investigation of complaints to overall effectiveness and customer satisfaction.ย 

The job holder will ensure that all activities in his departments are being carried out according to the relevant EHS rules and that documentation is being kept according to the legal and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

ย 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Safety focus
  • Ensure the company's customers receive quality products and services they expect
  • Perform routine laboratory analysis in accordance with current test methods: ย melt volume ratio, melt index, extrusion quality, hydroxyl determination, moisture, hardness, tensile, abrasion, TMA
  • Perform non-standard laboratory analysis as required: ย Test method development, test method validation, customer requests, retests
  • Check and report analysis results as required
  • Retesting of retains for complaints, returned products or re-certification samples
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance, repair, and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Undertake effective, accurate, and efficient processing of laboratory workload
  • Maintain accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures
  • Ensure adequate stocks of reagents and consumables
  • Perform laboratory housekeeping duties
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

ย 

Qualifications: ย 

  • Associates Degree or higher in Chemistry, Science, Process Technologyย 

Experience:ย 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in TPU manufacturing, laboratory, or quality control in chemical manufacturing

Skills:ย 

  • Proficient computer skills including: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
  • Literate and experienced with ISO 9001:2015

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Willing / able to work 12-hour day shift schedule and additional overtime as needed
  • Able to bend, stoop, lift 30 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, balance, and stand for long periods of time
