Job Title: QC Technician (Quality Control Technician)
Department: Quality Assurance (QA)
Reports To: Quality Control Staff

Job Summary:
The QC Tech is responsible for supporting the Quality Control department through various laboratory and quality assurance activities. This position involves assisting with daily QC operations, performing laboratory testing, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist QC technicians with day-to-day issues as they arise.
  • Provide temporary coverage for any QC function or shift as needed.
  • File, review, and verify SQF and other quality-related documents.
  • Assist in creating and verifying Certificates of Analysis (COA) for finished products.
  • Maintain inventory and place orders for QC, office, and lab supplies.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests (pH, moisture, fat, Brix, etc.) on raw materials and finished products.
  • Conduct environmental testing through swabbing, allergen testing, and other microbiological analyses.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain testing records.
  • Support internal audits, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) inspections, and SQF validations.
  • Update and review laboratory procedures and QC forms.
  • Enter data from laboratory tests, environmental swabs, and other QC activities.
  • Coordinate and document environmental and sanitation meetings.
  • Assist with special projects alongside QA management.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and chemical inventory.
  • Dispose of chemical waste in accordance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in English and math skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience in the food industry is highly advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of or experience with SQF, GMPs, chemistry, microbiology, analytical instruments, and the scientific method.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory testing procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to adapt, remain flexible, and collaborate within a team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field preferred (not required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment with possible exposure to hazardous materials.

Work Environment:

  • This position is performed in an office, laboratory, and manufacturing plant environment.
  • May require work at Plant 1 and Plant 2 as needed.

Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • First (morning) and Second Shift (evening shift) (two positions available in total)
  • Pay Range: 21.50 to 23.00 USD Hourly.
