Job description

Reports To:

Quality Assurance Supervisor

Pay Range:

$17.00 - $22.50/hour

Job Location:

Vishay Applied Thin Film Products is located in Fremont, CA.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for performing in-process, final visual inspection of raw, metalized and patterned ceramic substrates using stereo zoom and high-power microscopes, micrometers, calipers, various gauges and other inspection tools
  • Read diagrams and specifications
  • Measure products with rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Accept or reject finished products
  • Strictly follow quality standards and meet daily, weekly production goals
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for the products
  • Ability to interpret the inspection data according to inspection standards.
  • Report inspection and test data
  • Provide some basic training and support to new QA team members
  • May be required to perform other duties

What you will bring along:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance inspection is required
  • Ability to read and understand procedures and work instructions a plus
  • Good computer skills and data entry experience
  • MIC Hybrid circuit inspection experience or MIC assembly a plus
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Technical knowledge of basic inspection tools and equipment like calipers, micrometers, various gauges, and low- and high- powered microscopes, bonding machines, etc.
  • Proficient in English. Must have basic English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good manual dexterity as will be handling precise small fragile components under a microscope using tweezers and probes
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with constant change
  • Able to prioritize job flows, schedule and manage time efficiently
  • Good problem solving and multi-tasking abilities required
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and other safety procedures is preferred
  • Prior experience working for ISO 9000 certified company is preferred

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a lab environment; adheres to required safety and dress standards to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, talk, and listen. May be required to sit, stand, walk for periods of time; bend, stoop, and twist; closely observe items through a microscope, and perform various repetitive fine grasping motions; uses a variety of small hand tools to perform various operations when required; operate a computer and enter information using a keyboard, operate a telephone, and other office equipment for an extended period of time. As some visual inspection duties will also be required, specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Some physical strength and stamina are required for regular cleaning duties. May be exposed to hot/cold conditions, high-volume noise, exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.), and/or hazardous materials such as chemicals (e.g. alcohol, acetone, acids, solvents and photo resist) or particulate matter.

May be requested to work overtime and weekends to suit operational needs.
