Job description

Job Summary

The Fruit Technician checks the quality of conventional and organic products, by performing inspections to evaluate the compliance of good manufacturing practices, food safety, quality standards according customer requirements. They will provide support with additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspection of product ensuring it meets company standards.
  • Retain an organized log of inspections at 3rd-party warehouses, transfer facilities, gates, and yards for both conventional and organic products with their corresponding hygiene practices.
  • Report any type of issue through documentation and photos, to ensure the correct evaluation of the final product.
  • Maintain quality control records of inspections for both conventional and organic products with their corresponding hygiene procedures.
  • Ensure proper cleaning procedures and maintain cleaning log, per Food Safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Basic understanding of MS Excel and MS Word office Suite.
  • Certified forklift driver certification required.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends and holidays if needed.
  • Able to walk; sit; stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Able to reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.
  • Lift and move 50 lb. boxes of bananas, plantains and pineapples.
  • Availability to work indoors and outdoors, in all seasons.
  • Work in a warehouse setting or field location.
  • Work around heavy equipment and in high places.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; cold and hot.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Must have a valid state issued driverโ€™s license.
  • Availability to drive company vehicle within the Port facility.
