Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Quality Control Associate I to support routine QC laboratory activities in a regulated manufacturing environment. This entry- to junior-level position is well suited for a recent graduate with academic laboratory experience who is interested in beginning a career in Quality Control.

Working under the direction of senior QC personnel, the QC Associate will perform assigned testing and support activities related to work-in-process (WIP) materials, finished goods, ad hoc analyses, and customer requests. The successful candidate must follow written procedures, accurately document work, and collaborate effectively with other members of the QC team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine QC testing of work-in-process materials and finished products under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support ad hoc testing, investigations, special projects, and customer-requested analyses.
  • Follow approved test methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Prepare samples, solutions, reagents, standards, and laboratory materials as assigned.
  • Accurately record test activities, observations, calculations, and results in laboratory documentation or electronic systems.
  • Review data for completeness and promptly communicate unusual results, discrepancies, or laboratory issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist with laboratory equipment checks, basic maintenance, calibration coordination, and inventory management.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory work areas.
  • Support sample receipt, labeling, storage, tracking, and disposal activities.
  • Participate in required training and demonstrate competency before performing assigned tasks independently.
  • Work collaboratively with QC colleagues and other departments to meet testing priorities and timelines.
  • Perform other laboratory and team duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Academic laboratory experience, including proper sample handling, accurate measurement, data recording, and safe laboratory practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Basic understanding of common laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, co-op, or entry-level experience in a Quality Control, analytical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical-device, or manufacturing laboratory.
