Job description

Position: Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Bloomington, IN

Department: Laboratory

Shifts Available: Days 

Pay: up to $924.00–$1,268.80 gross per week

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Per CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489), MLTs perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing and must demonstrate competency based on education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory testing and report results accurately.
  • Follow quality control and laboratory procedures.
  • Troubleshoot testing issues and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Conduct and document equipment maintenance.
  • Review and verify patient results before release.
  • Recognize age-specific result variations.
  • Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture, as required.
  • Ensure compliance with proficiency testing and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, and hospital policies.
  • Serve as Lead Tech when assigned and perform other duties as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1.       Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

2.       ASCP certification, or equivalent, required.

3.       Associates Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or completion of coursework in a program for MLT.

4.       Minimum 1 year of hospital laboratory work experience required.
