About Converted Products

Founded in 1993, Converted Products Inc. began as a slitting and die cutting business in Milwaukee. Through innovation and strong relationships, the company expanded to include sheeting and ultrasonic laminating, tripling in size and relocating to a larger facility five years later. Role Summary

A Quality Control (QC) Technician is an employee who verifies the conformance to requirements of raw materials, in-process operations and products produced. Conducts internal calibrations and maintains calibration records for machines and tools.ย  A QC Technician also assists the Quality Manager in gathering data for statistical analysis, process troubleshooting and quality analysis.

Functions/Responsibilities

  • Conduct, behavior and actions in accordance with Converted Products core values of Caring, Creativity, Determination, Dependability and Teamwork
  • Act as a champion for change within the department and across Converted Products. Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the accountability areas below.
  • Quality Control Inspection:
    • verify correctness of machine or process setup by measurement or examination of product first off of the operation.ย  Problem solve with supervisors and other employees to make sure that the work order is completed in a timely manner and at the highest possible quality level
    • monitor machine or process outputs on a periodic basis to determine consistency and quality of product produced
    • inspect incoming raw material or subcontract product to determine conformance to requirements
    • alert production supervision and/or quality manager to instances or product not meeting quality requirements
    • perform sorting operations to segregate conforming product from nonconforming product
    • audit final product as required by quality manager
  • Product Testing:
    • operate tensile test machine to determine peel strength, tensile strength, etc. of products to determine conformance to test and quality requirements.
    • operate laboratory oven to determine conformance of product to test and quality requirements
    • operate leakage test tank to confirm adequate seal of co-pack products
    • able to use and understand tape measures, rulers, calipers, and weigh scales.
    • operate thickness tester
    • operate basis weight tester
    • conduct air permeability testing
  • Quality Records and Documentation:
    • gather, label, organize, and store product retains to provide records of product conformity
    • organize and maintain paper copy and electronic files, maintains document templates
    • Follows SOPs and work instructions related to the Quality Management System
    • Maintain calibration records
  • Projects, Studies, etc.
    • gather data on product characteristics or process parameters for statistical analysis for capability, process improvement, troubleshooting, etc.
    • assist customer representatives and/or customer service representatives with sample or data gathering, data transcription, etc. for product trials.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred:ย  Associates degree in manufacturing, quality or related field.

License or Certification:

ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification

Experience:

  • At least 2 years working as a quality control technician in a manufacturing environment
  • At least 1 year ISO 9001 Lead Auditor experience.

Skills:

  • Good oral and written English communication skills.
  • Must possess accuracy, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with fellow employees at all levels of the organizational structure.
  • Must be able to work under time sensitive pressure and stressful situations.
  • Possess a professional appearance and attitude in order to portray a positive image for Converted Products
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to read and understand a ruler down to a 1/32 of an inch and other measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Must have math skills for conversions in multiple units of measure.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.ย  Able to utilize email and MS Teams.
