Job description

Eaton's Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Quality Control Specialist to join the team at the Troy, IL manufacturing facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $56000 - $83000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.

Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What you'll do: The Quality Control Specialist supports the Troy Quality Management System by maintaining quality documentation, investigating quality alerts, coordinating weld testing and certification activities, completing inspection support for production and special orders, and assisting with new hire quality orientation. The role works closely with the Quality Manager, Troy Quality Team, supervisors, production, shipping, and supporting laboratories to maintain compliance, follow-up discipline, and practical shop-floor quality support.

Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday work week, primarily during 1st shift. Schedule may flex to support weld testing for 2nd and 3rd shift welders; when off-shift testing is required, the Quality Control Specialist may adjust the same day or following day schedule as arranged with management. Essential Functions: Quality communication and follow-up: Communicate routinely with the Quality Manager and Troy Quality Team; coordinate with supervisors on quality alert investigations and required follow-up.

Quality alert support: Investigate quality alerts, document status, and help drive timely closure of assigned actions. Quality binders and documentation: Keep quality binders updated for each production and shipping area of the plant; maintain controlled documents, schema numbers, work instructions, inspection sheets, and quality charts as assigned. Weld testing and certification: Perform weld tests, support new welder qualification, and ensure new welders are certified to applicable quality standards before release.

Inspection support: Perform inspections on special orders and complete required documentation when needed. Work instructions and visual aids: Create, update, and correct work instructions, charts, forms, and supporting quality documents when needed. Daily inspection sheet review: Check quality inspection sheets daily at each work center for completion, accuracy, and follow-up needs.

New hire quality orientation: Assist with new hire training by leading or supporting the Quality portion of orientation. External lab coordination: Deliver weld and metal samples to the St. Louis test lab and communicate status through completion.

Continuous improvement and projects: Assist the management team with special projects, document cleanup, audit readiness, and quality system improvement activities as needed. Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution Experience in quality support, manufacturing, inspection, welding, fabrication, assembly, or a related production environment. Working knowledge of MS Office applications for documentation, reports, and records.

Ability to work primarily 1st shift with flexibility to support 2nd/3rd shift weld testing as needed. Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management system requirements. Experience with SAP or other business/documentation systems Experience in a union manufacturing environment. Familiarity with weld quality requirements, quality alerts, inspection sheets, controlled documents, and plant-level audit readiness activities.

Skills: Position Criteria: Clear communication style with quality, production, shipping, supervisors, management, and external lab contacts. Strong attention to detail for inspection records, binder updates, work instructions, schema numbers, and document control. Ability to investigate quality issues, document findings, and follow through until closure.

Self-directed and able to prioritize daily plant support, audit needs, special orders, and certification activities with limited guidance. Good organizational skills and ability to maintain current, accurate records across multiple work centers. Professional, service-oriented approach with all levels of employees and leadership.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety, compliance, and quality expectations. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed for samples, documents, binders, or related quality materials. All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
