Job description

The Quality Manager will plan, direct, and execute efforts to assure that the quality of product delivered to customers meets or exceeds expectations. The Quality Manager will also have responsibility over Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions within the business unit, including the maintenance and improvement of the company's quality management system, processes, certifications, continuous improvement initiatives, and driving and supporting actions needed to accomplish department and business goals.

  • Plan, identify and assign the necessary resources to accomplish all project specific quality activities.
  • Manage and support the Quality Surveillance and inspection activities needed to support project execution
  • Support the proposals process by reviewing project scope to identify special manufacturing or quality requirements. Develop estimates for Quality Support man-hours, subcontract inspection services and cost.
  • Coordinate and assist in the development of project specific Quality Plans, inspection checklists, and documentation requirements for suppliers of fabrications, raw materials and equipment utilized in projects.
  • Manage the process to control nonconformances and lead the root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions on critical nonconformances. 
  • Support the Supplier qualification process by auditing their quality management systems and assessing their fabrication capabilities. 
  • Support the company's Quality Management System and attainment of the company's ISO 9001 certification. Manage the company's internal audit program
  • Facilitate and lead improvement initiatives within the department and across other functional areas.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the execution of work of direct reports. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of AWS standards, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, V, VIII, and IX. B31.1, and B31.3
  • 10 years of experience working in Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control positions in structural, auxiliary equipment, boiler, and pressure vessel fabrication.
  • Knowledge of general steel fabrication practices.
  • Background in welding and inspection
  •  ISO 9001 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor training/certification - preferred
