About the Position

We are seeking a Quality Control Assistant to support the Quality Control Manager and project team on a major heavy civil construction project in Campo, California.

This position will assist with quality control activities throughout the project lifecycle, including inspections, testing, documentation, submittals, RFIs, subcontractor oversight, and compliance with contract requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on heavy civil experience and a strong understanding of construction quality standards and field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the QC Manager with all aspects of project quality control
  • Review and prepare design and construction documents
  • Support QA/QC protocols through submittals, RFIs, inspections, and field testing
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with project specifications and quality standards
  • Provide field oversight of subcontractors and construction activities
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation, reports, and electronic project records
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, inspectors, and clients to resolve quality issues
  • Assist with Daily Construction Reports, submittals, transmittals, and subcontract/PO documentation
  • Review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance with required tolerances
  • Support internal production monitoring, analysis, and reporting
  • Assist with implementation of project safety programs
  • Provide guidance to project personnel regarding QC procedures and requirements
  • Support quality management efforts from preconstruction through project closeout
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality management systems and processes

Requirements

  • 3+ years of construction quality control experience, preferably in heavy civil construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field highly preferred but not required
  • Experience with heavy civil/sitework projects such as highways, bridges, DOT infrastructure, utilities, dams, or similar work
  • Familiarity with soil and/or concrete testing
  • Understanding of field testing and inspection procedures, construction specifications, tolerances, means and methods, and civil/structural concepts
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations
  • Experience with audits, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment
  • Ability to assist with both field and office engineering responsibilities
  • Understanding of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Ability to work effectively with project teams, subcontractors, contractors, and clients
