Job description

Position Summary:

Assume role as Ventura Foods Company Auditor, responsible for auditing VF plants for compliance to HQ and plant policies, programs, and SOPs.  Auditor will schedule and prepare for audits, conduct audits, prepare and issue reports and monitor follow up RCA and CAPA.  Role is expected to build and improve the Company Auditing program and standards.  Auditor also responsible for all aspects of audit preparation and execution for audits conducted at the home plant, including GFSI, SQF, customer and VF Company audits.  Support cross functional plant audit team as the audit leader and coordinator for RCA and CAPA follow up.    Audit food safety, quality and HACCP programs for compliance.  Coordinate daily/weekly/monthly facility audits on a pre-determined schedule.  Identify gaps and coordinate corrective action initiatives for findings and non-conformances.
     

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for auditing Ontario VF plant for compliance to both Corporate Quality Management System policies and procedures, and the plant specific SOPs, programs and OPLs that support the corporate directives.  Auditor will schedule and prepare for audits, conduct audits, prepare and issue reports and monitor follow up RCA and CAPA as dictated by Company Audit team expectations.  Auditor will be part of the VF Company Auditing team and will be calibrated with other auditors on the team.  Audits will be conducted at Ontario VF plant.   
  • Lead opportunities to build the Internal Audit program to move from an SQF standards based program to a Ventura Foods standards based Company Audit.  Recommend and develop deep dive audit scenarios.  Continually drive to audit for program depth as plant programs improve.
  • Responsible for all aspects of audit preparation and execution for all audits conducted at the plant, including GFSI and customer and VF Company audits.  Ensure compliance with all HQ QA Policies and procedures and all customer specific program and document requirements.   Manage audit preparation and lead audits.  Coordinate all RCA and CAPA efforts cross functionally.  
  • Audit Food Safety, Quality & HACCP programs for compliance.  Coordinate daily/weekly/monthly facility audits on a pre-determined schedule.  Identify gaps and coordinate corrective action initiatives for findings and non-conformances. 
  • Responsible for assuring compliance with all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulatory criterion including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Preventive Controls.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 
Education and Experience:
  • B.S. Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related scientific discipline, or at least five (5) years auditing or plant experience.
  • Must achieve SQF Practitioner certification.
  • HACCP or SQF Certification preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Firm knowledge and understanding of manufacturing plant processes and quality management systems.  Auditing, RCA and CAPA experience required. 
  • Good written and oral communication skills as this position will interact heavily both internal and external to Ventura Foods.  
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and extrapolate information to different aspects of the job.
