Job description

Aderant is a global industry leading software company providing comprehensive business management solutions for law firms and other professional services organizations with a mission to help them run a better business. We are motivated by a collective desire to drive the legal industry to the forefront of innovation. With over 2,500 clients around the world, including 95 of the top AmLaw 100 firms, we are changing the outside perception of the legal sphere; where there was once resistance to modernization, we are creating a culture that embraces new ideas and technology.
At Aderant, the "A" is more than just a letter. It is a representation of how we fulfill our foundational purpose, serving our clients. It embodies our core values and reminds us that to achieve success, every day must start with the "A". We bring the "A" to life by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and personal growth. We encourage our diverse teams to bring their whole selves to work - ideas, experience, and passion - to drive our mission forward.
Our people are our strength.
What you'll do in this role:
  • Design, document, and continuously evolve a QA Operating Model that clarifies roles, workflows, and quality gates across the engineering organization.

  • Drive shift-left adoption and enablement across engineering teams, embedding testing and quality ownership earlier in the development lifecycle.

  • Own the automation strategy for QA, prioritizing coverage investments that reduce risk and increase release velocity.

  • Conduct internal process audits to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risk exposure across teams and product lines.

  • Define and track QA metrics and build dashboards that give engineering and product leadership real-time visibility into quality health.

  • Deliver regular quality health reporting to senior stakeholders - translating data into clear, actionable recommendations (not just activity reporting).

  • Design onboarding and training programs that accelerate domain knowledge acquisition for QA and engineering staff.

  • Lead, manage, and develop a small, highly-skilled QA team, setting clear priorities and fostering a culture of ownership.

  • Partner tightly with Engineering & Product leaders to embed quality standards into how the organization plans and ships work.

What success looks like:
  • A QA Operating Model that is well understood, consistently followed, and continuously improved based on data and feedback.

  • Shift-left practices are visibly adopted across engineering teams, with quality ownership shared earlier in the software development lifecycle.

  • Leadership has clear, trusted visibility into quality health through metrics and dashboards, enabling faster, better-informed decisions.

  • New QA staff ramp up faster through structured onboarding and repeatable enablement materials.

  • A small, highly-skilled QA team that is engaged, growing, and recognized as a strategic partner across the business.

What we're looking for:
  • 7+ years' experience in Quality Assurance / Software Testing, including 2+ years in a people-management or team-lead capacity.

  • Strong technical understanding of how modern SaaS organizations design, build, and ship software.

  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of shift-left quality practices and how to operationalize them at scale.

  • Demonstrated experience building or maturing QA operating models, standards, or governance frameworks.

  • Working knowledge of test automation frameworks and CI/CD-integrated testing practices.

  • Experience defining metrics and building dashboards/reporting that inform executive decision-making.

  • A genuine passion for process, standards, and continuous improvement - you see structure and process as an enabler.

  • Strong written and verbal executive communication - can translate data into crisp updates and facilitate decisions.

Preferred experience:
  • Experience in legal tech, enterprise B2B SaaS, or another regulated/contract-heavy environment.

  • Familiarity with organizational change management as it relates to rolling out new quality practices.

  • Experience partnering with Engineering and Product teams on release readiness, communications, and customer impact.
