Job description

Job Title: – Quality Technician

Location:- Auburn Hills – MI

Shift – 2nd shift

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

  • Inspection of product to ensure conformance to engineering specifications. Support quality processes to ensure product reliability, increase manufacturing effectiveness, and improve customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to perform accurate and thorough inspections of various parts and assemblies.
  • Communicate non-conformances in technical terms both written and oral
  • Review and disposition of non-conforming material and process material transactions.
  • Communicate non-conforming material conditions to designated supplier, buyer and engineer.
  • Organizational skills to perform detailed follow up on Corrective Actions
  • Common knowledge of machine tool basics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatics)
  • Support other quality functions within Operations such as workmanship, packaging standards, etc

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision while contributing to KPI measures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and symbols including GD&T.
  • Ability to communicate technical information both written and oral
  • Ability to properly use basic mechanical and electrical inspection and measuring tools
  • Ability to perform calibration of hand tools and interpret results
  • Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Interpersonal skills – Uniquely driven individual with long term ambitions, results oriented, works effectively with others.
  • Reliable, consistent attendance expected.

2. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in engineering / quality discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years in quality assurance / inspection role
  • Previous experience as machinist / machine builder or assembler preferred
  • Working knowledge of joystick operated CMM (coordinate measuring machine)
  • Ability to use Modus or Verisurf CMM inspection software preferred

3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

  • Extended standing for long periods
  • Lifting and handling of parts up to and occasionally exceeding 50lbs
  • Ability to handle material while operating inspection equipment
