Quality Engineer
Onsite in Lapeer, MI
Estimated Salary: $80K-$100K with Comprehensive Benefits Package
We are a leader in the design, development, and production of advanced tracked and wheeled vehicles, vehicle systems, and critical components that support U.S. military modernization. Our expertise spans electronic and mechanical systems, fabricated structures, armored products, rubber solutions, and track systems, delivering reliable innovation to both defense and commercial markets at the speed of need.
The Quality Engineer supports new product/process development and manufacturing through the application of quality engineering techniques. This role supports product development, product launch, manufacturing, customer and supplier quality issues, and corrective actions with an emphasis on process improvement.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the Quality Management System and create and maintain quality documents, procedures, and work instructions
  • Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process by reviewing contracts, drawings, process routings, purchase orders, work instructions, and production/development plans
  • Review customer-specific requirements, maintain assigned Plex workflow actions, and complete customer submissions/uploads and Certificates of Conformance
  • Determine critical product characteristics, inspection methods, and measurement requirements in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and support new product qualification and launch activities
  • Prepare and coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAI), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Check Sheets, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Lead and participate in Corrective/Preventive Action activities using root cause analysis, Lean techniques, A3s, countermeasures, Six Sigma, poka-yoke, and error-proofing
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, quality audits, non-conforming material disposition, rework verification, and process improvement activities
  • Support and train inspectors and associates, maintain knowledge of government/customer/industry standards, and perform quality activities for Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Process Change Requests (PCR)

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Quality or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 14001, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and quality engineering techniques
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work with little to no direct supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to use handheld and surface plate measurement devices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors and accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, security protocols, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Must meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ)
