Job description
Position Summary
This role position provides Mental Health Prevention and Promotion services across Baker County.
The position supports community-wide prevention efforts funded through Oregon Health Authority (OHA) grants.
The role requires strong collaboration with schools, providers, and community partners, as well as strict adherence to documentation, grant reporting, and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
I. Mental Health Prevention Coordinator
A. Prevention & Promotion Programming
Provides Mental Health Prevention and Promotion services throughout Baker County in alignment with OHA-approved prevention grant objectives.
Delivers evidence-based, state-approved mental health and suicide prevention curricula in schools and community settings.
Coordinates and participates in community education events, workshops, and trainings (e.g., suicide prevention, mental wellness, stigma reduction).
Assists with planning and delivery of suicide prevention trainings (e.g., QPR) as scheduled.
B. Community Collaboration & Coalition Participation
Serves as an active member of the Baker County Safe Communities Coalition.
Leads the Baker County Suicide Prevention and Postvention Committee.
Participates in additional community coalitions and committees as assigned.
Collaborates with schools, public health, community organizations, and local partners to promote mental health and prevention strategies.
C. Grant Administration & Reporting
Assists with or completes prevention grant applications, annual budgets, and work plans as required by OHA.
Tracks prevention activities, outputs, and outcomes to meet grant deliverables.
Completes and submits all required state reports accurately and timely.
Maintains documentation and data required for audits, monitoring, and site reviews.
III. Professional Conduct & Teamwork
Maintains professional, respectful, and collaborative communication with clients, families, schools, community partners, and internal teams.
Works effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Represents the agency positively in the community.
Adheres to agency policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.
IV. Attendance & BOLI Compliance
Regular in-person attendance is an essential function of this position.
Adheres to assigned work schedule; adjusts schedule as required to meet school and community needs.
Requests vacation and personal time at least 30 days in advance.
Submits accurate timecards by Friday EOD each pay period.
Takes all required meal and rest breaks in compliance with BOLI OAR 839-020.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field (Master?s degree preferred).
Knowledge of prevention programming, suicide prevention, and youth behavioral-health systems.
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Valid Oregon driver?s license and ability to travel throughout Baker County.
Must pass background check under OAR 407-007-0200 to 407-007-0370
Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering school-based prevention curricula.
Grant reporting or data tracking experience.
Familiarity with rural/frontier community behavioral-health systems.
