overview: IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 123-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seek an experienced QMS & Compliance Manager. The ideal candidate is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position is based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio reporting to Director of Operations, and plays a key role throughout our Product lifecycle through design, supply, manufacture, and customer application for both manufactured products and aftermarket services.
The QMS & Compliance Manager will be charged with being an active Quality presence on the Ideal Electric production floor, ensuring QMS processes are fully integrated and strictly maintained.
This position requires access or potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. To meet the NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship, attest that you do not have dual citizenship, and are otherwise eligible to access and manage regulated information

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide strategic oversight and direct management for both the shop-floor Production Quality program and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring total regulatory alignment and cross-functional integration across the entire manufacturing facility.
  • Manage the Ideal Electric ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • Develop, implement, and update QMS policies, procedures, and process audits.
  • Lead internal and external quality audits; manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Implement and manage ITAR and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance controls.
  • Oversee document control systems and ensure accurate maintenance of quality policies, procedures, and engineering records.
  • Monitor key quality metrics including defect rates, scrap costs, and customer complaints, and report performance to leadership.
  • Lead management reviews of the QMS system to identify clear opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Support continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and foster a root-cause-analysis approach to problem-solving.
  • Train, mentor, and coach employees on quality standards, compliance regulations, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Participate directly in customer audits and respond comprehensively to quality-related inquiries.
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to integrate quality objectives into daily manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain an active, visible presence on the production floor to ensure quality standards are met by production teams.

DESIRED QUALIFIATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • Must have the ability to work full time at the Ideal Electric Mansfield, Ohio facility. This is not a remote work position.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a Quality leadership or Quality management role.
  • Prior experience working within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Deep operational experience with ISO 9001:2015 requirements is required.
  • Current ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification is highly desired but not required.
  • Experience with ISO 17025:2017 testing/calibration requirements is desired but not required.
  • Must be able to fluently read blueprints, engineering drawings, and other technical data.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related technical area is desired but not required. Substantial years of direct work experience will be considered in place of a degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills; proficiency with MS Word and Excel is required.
  • US citizenship is strictly required in this role due to NOFORN/CUI constraints.
  • Proven knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and procedures (5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and cross-functional communication skills with an ability to multitask.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
  • Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40-hour minimum.
  • This position generally operates in a professional office environment.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Travel may be required (likely 25% or less). Must be able to travel throughout the United States and abroad. Must have the ability obtain and maintain a valid passport and US-issued driver's license.
