Job description

Plans, coordinates and implements general education for staff, including department-specific and facility-wide in-services.

Coordinate training schedules and records for new employee orientation, ACBIS, Mandt, CPR/First Aid, ACLS, training sweep, etc.

Works with CNO, managers, charge nurses & hospital director of quality to determine training/staff development needs.

  • This position will be PART-TIME Educator and PART-TIME Floor RN for a FULL-TIME job. Candidate will be able to pick up extra shifts on the floor, too.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts an annual educational needs assessment for the department, with input from CNO, managers, charge nurses, physicians and administrators. Develops annual calendar for education. Main contact and lead for the planning & coordination of educational offerings.
  • Maintains & posts annual education calendar to allow staff to plan work schedule to attend offerings. Makes modifications as needed. Maintains the education data base for the department. Compiles, reviews, & reports education statistics to the QAPI committee and management meeting.
  • Ensures all new employees attend new employee orientation within policy guidelines. Ensures the planning/implementation & resources for new employee orientation are complete each month. Works with individual CNO, managers & charge nurses to ensure that department-specific orientation is appropriate and adequate to prepare a new hire to work in their area.
  • Coordinates CPR, First Aid, ACLS, ACBIS, Mandt training and annual recertification for all departmental employees.
  • Preserves the integrity and confidentiality of all employee information. Acts in a responsible and professional manner at all times.
  • Responsible for record keeping for various initiatives as needed.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of policies & procedures and effectively communicates those policies and procedures to employees of all levels.
  • Adheres to and promotes work practices consistent with Lakeview’s mission, medical staff bylaws, administrative, clinical, and human resources policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Skill, Knowledge and Abilities: Sound communication skills, both verbal and written. Critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities. Computer proficiency and willingness to obtain necessary skills to complete automated job assignments. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Self-starter personality. Adaptability and ability to work under stress. Exhibits characteristics of a team player. To be proficient in the EMR Welsky within 90 days of hire.
  • Education: BSN with Education focus degree preferred. RN license required.
  • Licensure: Current Wisconsin RN license.
  • Experience: Two years healthcare experience required. Five years preferred.
