Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Vendor Manager with a strong background in the waste and recycling industry, ideally with prior experience working for a broker in this sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving procurement strategies in a fast-paced, competitive environment. This role requires a proactive approach to bidding out new contracts, aggressive negotiations, and maintaining strong partnerships with vendors to ensure optimal service delivery and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee vendor relationships within the waste and recycling industry, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.
  • Lead the bidding process for new contracts, including preparing RFPs, evaluating proposals, and selecting vendors that best meet organizational needs.
  • Conduct aggressive negotiations to secure favorable terms and pricing, balancing cost savings with quality service delivery.
  • Continuously monitor vendor performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs and develop strategic sourcing plans.
  • Maintain detailed records of contracts, negotiations, and vendor performance metrics.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and new vendor opportunities to optimize procurement strategies.
  • Resolve any issues or disputes with vendors promptly while maintaining professional relationships.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Vendor Manager within the waste and recycling industry, preferably working for a broker or similar organization.
  • Demonstrated success in bidding out new contracts in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills with an aggressive approach to securing advantageous terms.
  • In-depth knowledge of waste management and recycling industry standards, regulations, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail in contract evaluation and vendor performance tracking.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business administration, supply chain management, or related field is preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
