Job description

The Quality Assurance Technician verifies that all raw materials, in-process product, and finished goods meet company specifications, customer requirements, and food safety and regulatory standards for frozen and refrigerated prepared meals.This is a hands-on, floor-based role. The QA Technician is the day-to-day set of eyes on the production line: monitoring critical control points, verifying temperatures and weights, inspecting incoming ingredients, documenting results, and stopping product that does not conform. The role sits at the point where a small deviation either gets caught or becomes a hold, a customer complaint, or a recall.The QA Technician works closely with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance,  and supports the QA Manager in audit readiness, corrective action, and continuous improvement of the food safety and quality programs.Duties:Monitor the facility and make recommendations for maintaining equipment and building that are less than adequate for food safety.Have direct communication with ingredient suppliers on as needed for deviation ingredient specification.Physical inspection of incoming ingredients and or monitoring the dry and frozen warehouse incoming information.Write rejection notification to supplier when non food contact items are unacceptable.Batching observations, with random weighing of the spices and watching the mixing of products.Monitor the lines as product is processed with weighing the subassemblies and final product, taking temperature of the fillings and final product before packaging in the final pack.Monitoring final product code date and the packaging to verify the correctness of the product.Monitor GMP’s daily to help the supervisors realize if there is use for further training of employees.Routinely monitor the metal detector equipment to assure of its proper functioning.Record freezers and coolers temperature hourly to enforce the safety of our productsDocument weekly scales standardized and quarterly calibration by an out side serviceDocument weekly standardized thermometers with a certified thermometer monthlyDo shelf-life testing of new plates and sealing materials Essential job functions1-2 years’ experienceBilingual (English /Spanish)Word, Excel or similar software knowledgeWork hours and days assignedWork in production environment below 50 degrees, enter coolers as requireOccasional bending, stooping, turning, twisting motion.Constant walkingStand up workWork around equipment and machineryWork with metal detectorWork on wet floor, wearing slip-resistant water-proof footwearGood oral and written communication skillsGood computer skillsOther duties task and responsibilities may be assigned at any time
